This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account details: name, email, role, and (optionally) a profile photo.
- Profile information you add — for Foremen: bio, service area, skills, licenses.
- Project content: projects, journal entries, photos, documents, messages, reviews.
- Usage and device data needed to operate and secure the service.
How we use it
To provide the Platform: authentication, connecting homeowners and Foremen, the shared journal and messaging, notifications (in-app and email), reputation, and safety/moderation. We do not sell your personal information.
What's shared, and with whom
Project content is visible to the participants of that project. Public Foreman profile details (name, photo, service area, skills, licenses, reviews) are visible to signed-in users. Exact street addresses are not shown to others — only the city. We use service providers to run the Platform (e.g. Google Firebase/Cloud for hosting and data, Resend for email, PostHog for analytics, Stripe for payments); they process data on our behalf under their terms.
Analytics
We use privacy-respecting product analytics (PostHog) to understand how the Platform is used in aggregate — for example, how often projects are created, invitations are sent, and journal entries are approved. We deliberately do not send the contents of your projects, journal entries, messages, reviews, or your name or email to analytics; we record only non-sensitive events and counts, and we do not use it for advertising. If analytics is not configured for a given deployment, none is collected.
Payments and financial data
Payments are processed by Stripe, not by Jack's Level. Your card or bank details are entered with and stored by Stripe under their privacy policy — we never receive or store full financial details. We keep only non-sensitive payment metadata needed to show the agreed amount and a receipt (for example the amount, status, and a masked card brand and last four digits). We don't hold funds, and we don't sell payment data.
Email preferences
Transactional notification emails can be turned off from your profile ("Email me about project activity"). Essential account messages (e.g. email verification, security) may still be sent.
Retention and your choices
We keep your information while your account is active and as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. You can request access to or deletion of your data via the contact below; some records may be retained where required.
